So. You’ve gotten your QBO ProAdvisor certification. Now you hear that you have to do it all over again? What the heck?!

Here is everything you need to know.

(Although please remember that we do not work for Intuit and things could change at any time.)

Who needs to recertify?

All QBO ProAdvisors with basic and advanced level ProAdvisor certifications need to recertify each year. Currently, there is no recertification requirement for QBO Payroll.

When do I need to recertify?

This depends on which season you were originally certified in.

Intuit’s certification season runs from November 1 – October 31. Once your certification season ends, you must recertify by June 30 of the following calendar year.

Example #1: If you got your most recent certification October 1, 2023, you would be in the November 1, 2022 – October 31, 2023 season. You will need to recertify by June 30, 2024.

Example #2: If you got your most recent certification November 15, 2023, you would be in the November 1, 2023 – October 31, 2024 season. You will need to recertify by June 30, 2025.

What do you mean by “most recent certification”?

Recertification requirements are based on the the last certification you achieved. If you got your basic certification last season, but you got your advanced certification this season, you won’t have to recertify until next year. Your advanced certification satisfies the basic recertification requirement.

Do I have to take the entire test(s) again?

No. Recertification only covers what has changed since you last took the test. It is a much smaller exam and typically takes less than an hour.

Do I need to recertify both basic and advanced?

Your advanced level recertification will consist of a basic portion and an advanced portion. If you fail the advanced portion, but pass the basic portion, you will lose your advanced certification status, but keep your basic certification.

What happens if I fail? (Or choose not to take it?)

Just like with the regular certification, you have three tries to pass with an 80% score.

If you fail three times, you will only be locked for 10 days, so if you take it early enough, you will still have a chance to retry before the June 30 deadline.

If you fail completely (or choose not to take the test), you will lose your certification status (and potentially your ProAdvisor listing, if applicable) and will have to take the full tests to get certified again.

Where do I find the recertification material?

It will appear inside your QBOA account under ProAdvisor > Training. In the QuickBooks Online Product Training section, you’ll see a module tile specifically designated for this.

When can I start studying?

Intuit publishes the recertification material sometime in April.

How will I know it’s there?

Don’t worry, you’ll get lots of notice. You’ll get an email from Intuit and there will be a banner inside your account. Plus, if you are in our Fast & Easy QBO community, we’ll post about it as well.

I promise you won’t miss it!

Where do I take the test?

You will take the test in the Certification Hub, which is the same place you took your other test(s). Login to your QBOA account, then go to ProAdvisor > Training > Certification Hub

Is there a Fast & Easy version?

Absolutely!

As soon as Intuit releases their new training, we will scramble to create a Fast & Easy version to match. It usually takes us about 2-3 weeks to get it ready.

Our version includes everything you’ve come to expect from Fast & Easy QBO: video lessons, QuickNotes, interactive reinforcement activities, hands-on exercises, and practice quizzes, all in our fun, gamified platform, and all 100% guaranteed to help you pass or your money back.

Do I need both Basic and Advanced versions?

No. When you purchase the Fast & Easy QBO recertification course it is good for wherever you are in your certification journey.

How do I get it?

When you purchased your Fast & Easy QBO certification course, you had the option of adding the annual recertification subscription to your cart. If you did that, you will automatically receive the Fast & Easy recertification materials when they are ready. If you did not, you can purchase them separately when they become available.
